Youth Ministry

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." - Luke 18:16

Our Mission

To lead our youth into a deeper, closer relationship with Jesus Christ. To instill in them the confidence to live out their teen years with the knowledge of who they are in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

To give them a sense of belonging to our Roman Catholic community of St. George that will sustain them for life.

St. George Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)

Who can come to CYO gatherings? All youth grades 8 – 12 are welcome to any or all of our CYO activities. While we provide a Catholic program, all teens including non-Catholic teens, are welcome to attend.  Current CYO sponsors include Becky Steinbeck, Brenda Winkelman, and Angela Heckman.

What is CYO?  The main purpose of CYO is to guide young Catholics to live a Christian life, develop trust between Catholic peers, and continue teen faith formation. At St. George we bring youth grades 8 – 12 together a couple times a month during the school year to help build a faith community among our teens through fellowship, presentations, small group discussion, prayer, service, and Sacraments.

When is CYO? CYO meetings happen typically twice a month on Sundays 11am – 1:00pm during the school year. Service projects and fun fellowship events happen periodically throughout the school year and retreats/camps/trips happen often in the summer. The dates/times for these events will be announced prior to the event.

Where does CYO meet? Regular CYO meetings are in the Loft G (3rd Floor) in Notre Dame Hall. We do occasionally gather off campus for fun fellowship events, service events, or Diocesan youth events. Parent volunteers may be needed to help drive youth to off campus events.

Why is CYO important? Faith formation should not end when youth graduate St. George School or PSR in the 8th grade. CYO is the opportunity St. George Parish provides for our teen youth to encounter the Lord, grow in faith, develop relationships with other faith-filled teens, and provide encouragement to live as a child of God when they encounter so many worldly issues that our teens face today.
