Diocese of Jefferson City updates list of credibly accused clergy; adds two names, changes status of one priest

JEFFERSON CITY – Catholics in the Diocese of Jefferson City have received an updated list of 35  priests and religious brothers credibly accused and/or removed from ministry in the diocese. The information was provided in parish bulletins this weekend in the Diocese, which covers 38 counties in central and northeast Missouri.

Parishioners also received a statement from Bishop McKnight and other details on the work of the Diocese regarding the protection of children and vulnerable adults. The entire packet, including the updated list, is posted on the diocesan web site.

Bishop McKnight encouraged people to report any suspected abuse or victimization by someone representing the Catholic Church to the Missouri Child Abuse & Neglect hotline (1-800-392-3738), the Missouri Adult Abuse & Neglect Hotline (1-800-392-0210), and the diocese’s Victim Assistance Coordinator, Nancy Hoey, at 573-694-3199 or reportabuse@parishtemplate.diojeffcity.org.
